Dialogs in Line
Paul Briskey
June 11 – August 7, 2026
Opening Reception: June 18, 4–7 PM
Peace Gallery, 701 S Century Ave, Waunakee, WI
Some conversations need to span time and geography to happen. Dialogs in Line brings together the work of Paul Briskey — painter, bibliophile, and beloved presence in the Waunakee arts community — and a constellation of artists, past and present, who have asked the same essential question from very different places and traditions.
At the heart of the exhibition is a shared obsession: the line. What is it? What does it carry? The exhibition follows a chronological arc of Briskey's development — from his early formation through a decade painting in Kuwait, through periods of personal transformation, and into his current practice — with other works entering not as backdrop but as correspondents across time, each offering their own answer.
The conversation rewards close looking. Artists working from entirely different formal traditions can arrive, surprisingly, at the same essential commitment: that a line is never merely description. It is thought. It is self.
Briskey is represented by Milward Farrell Fine Art in Madison, maintains an active local exhibition presence, and his work can be found in private collections throughout the region and beyond.
